Abrasive wear performance of hygrothermally aged glass/PTFE composites

In the present study, abrasive wear tests were conducted to investigate effect of hygrothermal ageing on friction and resistance glass/Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composites. Non-hybrid hybrid composites manufactured with PTFE coated two-dimensional plain weave (2D), three-dimensional knitted (3D), satin (SW) fabrics a steel metal mesh (MM). Hybrid glass MM by placing it top bottom laminate. Specimens aged in distilled water at temperature 35 °C for 60 days. Abrasive performed 120 ?m grit silicon carbide (SiC) paper using plate apparatus loads ranging between 10 N 50 N. Water absorption kinetic parameters determined Fickian diffusion behaviour was observed. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis showed that crystallinity sensitive decreased an increase uptake. Hygrothermal reduced both non-hybrid as compared non-aged ones.
